The Motown label was founded by Berry Gordy in 1959 in Detroit and signed many, many names that went on to find fame and fortune. We take a look at some of the best Motown artists and marvel in the success of the Motown label!
The Motown label without Marvin Gaye would be like fish without the chips. Gaye had a string of hits in the ‘60s that really put Motown to the forefront of peoples’ minds, including "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine". Gaye’s relationship wasn’t always positive though and he left the label in 1982.
