Some band break ups can be painful - here, we explain the reasons behind some of the biggest group splits of all-time, including The Eagles, The Beatles and The Supremes.
Singer Diana Ross left the group to pursue a solo career in 1970. The group continued to record music with other artists, including Stevie Wonder, but disbanded in 1977. Motown writing trio Holland-Dozier-Holland left the label in early 1968 after a dispute over royalties. As a result, the quality of Motown's output (and Diana Ross & the Supremes' records in particular) began to falter.
