Adele: What We Know About Her New Album
Adele's has confirmed that the follow-up to 21 will finally be released this year. Smooth reports on what we know.
1. She'll be writing.
As on her two previous albums 19 and 21, Adele will be a major part of the songwriting. 'If I didn't write my own songs I'd be out next week with a new album," Adele has said in the past. "I have to take time and live a little bit."
2. The title.
It's going to be called 25. Amazon Italy accidentally uploaded a pre-order image of the cover, with title, earlier this year. The title will correspond with her previous albums: both records reflecting the age at which Adele wrote the songs.
3. The lyrics.
During an advert break on the X Factor, we heard these lyrics sung by that famous voice: “Hello, it’s me / I was wondering if after all these years / you’d like to meet to go over everything / they say that time’s supposed to heal ya / but I ain’t done much healing ...” So we're guessing they're some lyrics from the album.
4. The lead single.
Rumour has it (pun entirely intended) the lead single will be entitled Devil On My Shoulder.
5. Other musicians?
Some other famous musicians may well feature on the final record, including Damon Albarn, Phil Collins and One Republic's Ryan Tedder. Although Collins has referred to Adele as a 'slippery little fish', so we may see that duet never come to pass. Our loss!
6. There may be rap.
Adele has reportedly been experimenting with genres outside of the familiar for this new record. Wiz Khalifa says rap, Kelly Clarkson says country.
7. It might be released on a new label.
It's been reported that Adele's been in talks for a BIG dollar deal with Sony. Her last two albums were both released on XL.
8. The tour.
We aren't too hopeful that Adele will tour with this new album as she's admitted in the past to suffering from bad nerves, and she also underwent serious vocal surgery in 2011. These days she prefers the family life with partner partner Simon Konecki and their two-year-old son Angelo.
9. It's released in November. Definitely. Maybe.
The US website Billboard has said the album will drop on November 20th.
