With speculation mounting over who will be the next James Bond, here's a look at the actors who said, "Thanks, but no thanks."
Liam has proved his chops as an action actor in the 'Taken' trilogy but according to ranker.com, the Northern Irish star turned down a chance to play James Bond saying, "I was approached very heavily, but I wasn't really interested."
Ian Fleming said he based the James Bond character on Cary Grant, however he passed down the opportunity to play the first Bond.
The Scottish actor turned down the part because he didn't want to be boxed in by the character – "I enjoy doing an array of films. If I was to play Bond, that would quickly stop. How likely would I be accepted doing those roles after having played Bond?"
Owen was a clear frontrunner to play Bond but scuppered his chances by asking for gross profit points in every Bond film he appeared in, and so Daniel Craig was given the role.
The British actor was considered but didn't want to be typecast in spy films because he'd already starred in the three Harry Palmer thrillers.

The former husband of Elizabeth Taylor was reportedly offered the part numerous times but declined because he thought it would be "just another movie".
Ewan McGregor is another actor who refused the part for fear of being typecast, but has since changed his mind saying: "I think it would be quite cool to play James Bond. At this stage in my career [being typecast] is not really an issue anymore. Early on, when you start off you don't want your horizons to be narrow. But I think people know I have some kind of width in my work, so I'm really not worried about that anymore."
The acting legend was reportedly offered the role but turned it down because he felt it should be played by a British actor.
