Kevin and Karen Clifton split

Rumours about Kevin and Karen Clifton's marriage have been bubbling for a while.

But now, the Strictly Come Dancing professionals have confirmed that they have split up after three years of marriage.

The dancers' relationship has been the subject of break-up reports since November, during the latest series of the BBC competition.

This morning (March 15), Kevin revealed: "Privately we are not together anymore but professionally we are stronger than ever before.

"Dance is how we came together and is what glues us together.

"We’re still the best of friends – we still have a lot of love and respect for each other. What we’ve found is that since we’ve been honest with each other it’s unlocked our creativity."

Karen added: "We have such strong chemistry and it’s about entertaining and inspiring. At the end of the day it’s about giving back to fans. We’re feeling very positive."

The 35-year-old couple got married in 2015, after Kevin proposed on stage during a show of Burn The Floor on Karen’s 31st birthday.

Split rumours first emerged after news reports showed accountant Stuart Wood leaving Karen's home one morning, and they were later seen out together on various occasions.

Meanwhile, Kevin was also seen on the Strictly tour without his wedding ring.

The split may make their upcoming joint tour slightly awkward. Plus, they are both expected to return to Strictly in the autumn.
