The Pantone Colour Institute have honoured the late star with an official shade of purple.
The colour, entitled 'Love Symbol #2' after the star's famous name change to an unpronounceable symbol known as the Love Symbol in the late 1990s, was "inspired by his custom-made Yamaha purple piano."
The late musical icon - who passed away in April last year at the age of 57 after an accidental fentanyl overdose - has become synonymous with the colour since the release of his hit single and album 'Purple Rain' in 1984.
In a press release, The Pantone Colour Institute said: "We are honoured to have worked on the development of Love Symbol #2, a distinctive new purple shade created in memory of Prince. A musical icon known for his artistic brilliance, Love Symbol #2 is emblematic of Prince's distinctive style.
"Long associated with the purple family, Love Symbol #2 enables Prince's unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself."
