The work by famed British artist Damien Hirst was sold in Texas to raise money for good causes.
Titled 'Beautiful Beautiful George Michael Love Painting', it sold for £477,000 at the MTV RE:DEFINIE event in Texas last Friday.
Hirst’s painting sees a strong black sketch of the late singer covered with bright colours.
The event, hosted by Michael’s former partner, Kenny Goss, managed to raise more than £2.1m for HIV/AIDS prevention and for Dallas Contemporary museum’s arts education and programming.
Michael passed away on Christmas day from heart problems aged 53.
