Rod Stewart undergoes 'routine' heart procedure, calls off US tour

Sir Rod Stewart has postponed the remaining dates of his US tour after undergoing a "routine" heart procedure.
The 'Maggie May' legend, whose US dates were set to wrap up in September, has been advised by doctors to rest for the next four weeks following a coronary stent procedure.
An announcement shared to the 81-year-old's official Instagram account said: "Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure.

"Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities."
The statement continues: "On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.
"Information regarding affected performances will be communicated by the respective promoters and venues."
A coronary stent is a short, wire mesh tube that acts as a scaffold to help keep an artery open.
The news comes after recent cancellations at his Cincinnati and Cleveland shows, which fans were told were due to "an unforeseen but minor medical procedure".
Stewart was quick to reassure fans he is already on the mend.
"I'm already feeling better and very much on the mend," he shared in that same Instagram announcement.
"I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me.
"I am deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon."
