Stevie Wonder was honoured as a 'musical icon' at a ASCAP event in New York City on 17 November. Wonder gave an emotional speech that silenced the crowd.
Sting with Billy Joel, both of whom were honoured at the ASCAP awards on November 17. The awards benefit the ASCAP Foundation and its music education, talent development and humanitarian activities.
Motown founder Berry Gordy paid tribute to Stevie Wonder. Instead of saying positive things about the icon - because he said he has done it repeatedly at other events - he told the crowd some of Wonder's flaws. He said the piano player was a "lousy driver" and that his "golf game sucks."
