Valentine's Day is nearly upon us already. Whether you've been with your partner for years and fancy doing something different, or you're trying to impress someone new, we've got a few ideas for you.

February 14 doesn't have to be just mix tapes and heart-shaped greeting cards, it can be full of fantastic spots and memories to put you in anyone's good books.

With London being the city of love, we've collected our top picks that would be a perfect romantic visit any time of year.

  1. The View from The Shard

The View from The Shard is the perfect place if you're looking for stunning views of the city.

This year on Valentine's Day, the venue is hosting a dedicated Valentine’s Experience evening. Here, you can fall in love with the magical 360° view of London at night while enjoying an ambient harpist performance.

Not only that, but you can enjoy a glass of Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut Champagne while you're there as part of the Valentine's package.

  2. Little Venice

If you'd like a stroll somewhere pretty with your date, then a calm look around London's waterways is a dead cert.

You can also have a coffee at a canal-side café or just take a peek at all the amazing narrowboats. There's usually a fair share of cute dogs milling about, too.

  3. Everyman Cinema Hampstead

A trip to the cinema is a classic date night, so why not on Valentine's Day?

This is one of the most iconic and stylish cinemas around, and was the Everyman chain's first. There's cosy armchairs, sofas and plenty of food and drink on offer. We also recommend Screen on the Green in Islington.

  4. Primrose Hill

Just north of Regent's Park, Primrose Hill has one of the greatest views over London, and it's setting is very romantic.

Perhaps pack a picnic or have an early morning stroll before it gets too busy. There's also lots of great pubs and café's nearby.

  5. Kew Gardens

Another romantic walk is definitely around the gorgeous greenery of Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew.

There's over 300 acres of land to explore, and highlights include the Victorian Palm House full of fascinating plant life, the Chinese Pagoda built in 1762, or an aerial view at the Tree Top Walkway.
