"I felt so mega having given birth: the confidence from that, I felt unstoppable."

It's hard to imagine but Adele says there was a point during the tour of her last album '21' when she asked herself "Why am I halfway around the world? On my own?"

In an interview with The Guardian, the record-breaking singer said she was motivated to return to music by the birth of her son.

"After I had my son, I thought, ‘Yeah, that’s why I did it all.’ I felt proud of what I’d achieved with '21' for the first time."

The star who is notoriously private about her personal life said that having her son motivated her to continue her musical legacy for her children.

"I’m not motivated by much, certainly not by money – but I’m motivated by that. I want my child to see his mum running a proper business again. Being a boss again. Hopefully smashing it again.”

The reluctant star credits giving birth with giving her back the self-belief needed to continue her career: “I felt so mega having given birth; the confidence from that, I felt unstoppable. I’m sure most women feel that..."

In the interview Adele also admitted that she has turned down many lucrative offers in favour of keeping out of the spotlight.

"It's, like, I don't want to endorse a line of nail varnishes, but thanks for asking. A million pounds to sing at your birthday party? I'd rather do it for free if I'm doing it, cheers…"

Adele's album '25' will be released this Friday 20th November.
