Kerry Truman passed away in the early hours of Sunday (April 23) aged just 59.
Truman played bass for the Motown band best known for classics like ‘My Girl’ and ‘Just My Imagination’.
The Temptations performed in Missouri on Saturday night where they were supporting The Beach Boys on their ‘Surf & Soul Tour’. Truman died a few hours after coming off stage.
His passing was confirmed by The Temptations on their Facebook page.
Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love paid tribute the musician, writing on Facebook: "It’s incredibly shocking, as we were just chatting and hanging around backstage Saturday night in Cape Girardeau. KT (Turman) was a gentle giant with incredible talent.
“He played bass on songs that will forever be part of our American songbook for the last 33 years.
“He was always so kind and jovial … His smile and spirit will be missed.”
