Celine Dion has put her career on hold "indefinitely" in order to focus on her husband's health.

The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer has cancelled her Las Vegas shows until further notice, as well as her planned tour of Asia in November, so she can "devote every ounce" of her strength to her family.

Her husband, René Angélil, is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, after having surgery to remove a tumour last December.

Writing on Facebook, Dion said: "I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children.

"I also want to apologise to all my fans everywhere for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."

Dion has not performed in Las Vegas since July 29 due to her own ill health. She has inflammation in her throat muscles. A spokesperson confirmed that she has still not recovered from this condition.
