Now this is a shock soap comeback!

EastEnders is bringing back legendary character Doctor Harold Legg, played by 92-year-old actor Leonard Fenton.

Fenton has agreed to reprise his role after 11 years away from the soap.

He has already started filming the special episodes, and will be back on our screens this autumn for an emotional storyline involving his old friend Dot Branning (June Brown).

Speaking about his comeback, he said: "I am very happy to be back at EastEnders and am looking forward to working with June and the rest of the cast and crew again."

Doctor Legg appeared in the first ever episode of EastEnders back in February 1985, and was Walford's local GP until 1997.

He continued to make sporadic appearances until 2007. He had a close friendship with Dot, and she often turned to him in times of need.

June Brown added: "It's been 11 years since Dot last visited her favourite doctor, Doctor Legg, and it's an utter delight to be working with Leonard Fenton again in 2018."
