EastEnders filming postponed until further notice due to coronavirus

EastEnders has postponed filming any new episodes of the long-running BBC soap until further notice due to coronavirus fears.

The show will still air, but at a reduced broadcast rate in order to keep the programme continuing.

Posting from the official EastEnders twitter account, show bosses wrote: “In light of the spread of Covid-19, filming on #EastEnders will be postponed until further notice...

“We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two.

“Episodes will now air on Mondays, 8pm and Tuesdays, 7.30pm.”

One EastEnders fan questioned: “Hi, is the episode cutdown in effect as of now meaning the next episode is Monday? #EastEnders.”

The show’s social media manager replied: “Yes, that's right. Our eps will be on Mondays and Tuesdays, with immediate effect. The next episode will be on Mon 23rd, 8pm. #EastEnders.”

An official statement read: “In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on all BBC Studios continuing dramas will be postponed until further notice.

“The decision was made after the latest government update.

“We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and public health organisations.”
