We're not sure how we feel about holograms of dearly departed musicians, especially ones that are going out 'on tour'. But we're definitely intrigued.

The latest superstar making a return of sorts to the stage, is none other than Roy Orbison.

The music legend will be making a comeback in hologram form for a UK tour in 2018, and will be backed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

Roy Orbison In Dreams: The Hologram UK Tour will launch in April 2018, and will recreate The Big O through top-of-the-range holographic imaging, as he performs his greatest hits alongside a live orchestra.

Roy's son Alex said: “My Dad was one of the first people to combine rock and roll with orchestral sound so to see the full meal deal of having the big orchestra with my Dad is really a dream set up.”

Before then, a new compilation album titled A Love So Beautiful: Roy Orbison with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be released on November 3. Watch the video above to see a track from it.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Friday, October 27 at 9am.
