Beatles icon Sir Paul McCartney closed out the North American leg of his current tour with a poignant tribute to victims of Sunday night's shooting in Las Vegas.
Appearing in Detroit as part of his One on One tour, he opened the night with 'A Hard Day's Night', telling the crowd at Little Caesars Arena that "on such a terrible day, we're going to celebrate the joy in life".
This emotional sentiment mirrored his tweet from earlier in the same evening, when he wrote: "Even though this has been a very sad day, we're going to celebrate the joys of life #OneOnOne."

Other poignant songs on the night were 'Blackbird', 'We Can Work It Out, 'A Day in the Life' - which he said was "appropriate in today's world" - and a cover of John Lennon's 'Give Peace a Chance'.
McCartney also paid tribute to the late Tom Petty, who died at the age of 66 on Monday:
Sending love to Tom Petty and his family at this difficult time.
