Icelandic town paints amazing 3D zebra crossing to slow down cars

In the small fishing town of Ísafjörður, Iceland, officials are testing a genius new road safety tactic.
A new pedestrian crossing has been painted that makes it appear as a 3D optical illusion.
The design makes pedestrians feel as if they are walking on air, and will (hopefully) make motorists slow down as they move towards the apparently floating ‘zebra stripes.’
Icelandic environmental commissioner Ralf Trylla put the plan in motion after seeing a similar project in New Delhi, India. Street painting company Vegmálun GÍH helped create the impressive artwork:
