The most played songs at funerals revealed - and some choices are bizarre

The top songs played at funerals have been revealed with Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody', Robbie Williams' 'Angels' and ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' named among the most popular choices.

Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' was voted the number one choice of funeral songs, with 'Time To Say Goodbye' by Andrea Bocelli and 'Over The Rainbow' by Eva Cassidy placed second and third, respectively.

The Funeral Music Chart has been revealed by Co-op Funeralcare and is based on data and insights from Co-op’s funeral directors.

The poll has revealed the top 10 overall most popular choices, plus top tens of the most played funeral songs in different genres including pop, rock and jazz.

'My Way' by Frank Sinatra

'Time To Say Goodbye' by Andrea Bocelli

'Over The Rainbow' by Eva Cassidy

'Angels' by Robbie Williams

'Supermarket Flowers' by Ed Sheeran

Topping the list in the contemporary/pop list is Robbie Williams' 'Angels' and famous tracks from Westlife and Ellie Goulding.

Top 10 most popular contemporary/pop funeral songs:

'Angels' by Robbie Williams

'You Raise Me Up' by Westlife

'Supermarket Flowers' by Ed Sheeran

'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa

'Dancing Queen' by ABBA

'Lay Me Down' by Sam Smith

'Dancing In The Sky' by Dani and Lizzie

'Flying Without Wings' by Westlife

'How Long Will I Love You' by Ellie Goulding

Other most popular songs in the Rock genre include Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Bat Out Of Hell' by Meatloaf and 'Knocking On Heaven's Door' by Guns and Roses.

Taking the top spot in the Sport music genre is the theme tune from Match Of The Day and the most popular song in the TV/film category is the theme music from 'Only Fools and Horses.'

Surprisingly no classical hymns made it onto the most popular top ten list, however classics such as 'Abide With Me' and 'Jerusalem' topped the most popular hymns in the poll.
