A new musical based on the fantastic music of The Drifters is coming to London's West End next year.
Coming to the West End in Autumn 2020, The Drifters Girl will star Beverley Knight as Faye Treadwell, the legendary manager of The Drifters.
Along with her husband, Faye helped shape Atlantic Records’ vocal group into one of the world's biggest.
The musical will feature many of The Drifters' iconic songs, including 'Save the Last Dance for Me', 'Under the Boardwalk', 'Kissin’ in the Back Row of the Movies', 'Stand by Me', 'Come on Over to My Place' and 'Saturday Night at the Movies'.
On Broadway- The Drifters
The show will make its world premiere at Newcastle Theatre Royal next year, before transferring to the Garrick Theatre in London from October for a strictly limited season of 20 weeks.
The Drifters Girl will be directed by Jonathan Church (Singin’ In The Rain) and written by Ed Curtis. It will follow the highs of hit records and sell out tours to the lows of legal battles and personal tragedy, and the life of the world’s first African American, female music manager.
