The Scottish band have announced a 2020 tour and a new album to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

Simple Minds have announced they’ll be touring the UK and Europe in 2020 with their 40 Years of Hits show.

The band are also releasing an album of their greatest hits, Live in the City of Angels, on Friday (October 4) to further celebrate the milestone.

The album will be a combination of new material and their much-loved classics, including a new cover of King Creosote’s ‘For One Night Only’.

The tour will kick off in Norway next February, before heading to the UK in April for eight dates.

Frontman of the band, Jim Kerr, said: “Simple Minds are different now. We’re not a stock rock band, but we haven’t changed our line-up to be cool. We’ve done it because it’s great to have so many amazing players on board.

"I’m grateful for the career we’ve had, but I’m mad enough to think we can still hit new levels. This is what we do – write, record and play live.”

UK 2020 tour dates:
14 Apr – Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff
15 Apr – Bournemouth International Centre
17 Apr – The SSE Arena, Wembley
18 Apr – First Direct Arena, Leeds
20 Apr – Brighton Centre
24 Apr – Resorts World Arena, Birmingham
25 Apr – The SSE Hydro, Glasgow

Tickets for the tour are available from 4 October here. You can also pre-order the album here.
