Billy Ray Cyrus releases stunning cover of Neil Diamond's 'I Am... I Said'

You wouldn't have expected this cover to appear today... Billy Ray Cyrus performing Neil Diamond's 'I Am ... I Said'.

Country star Billy Ray has taken on one of Neil Diamond's biggest hits after listing the singer as one of his major musical influences.

In a new video, Billy Ray can be seen performing the classic 1971 song, a tune Neil scored a number four hit on Billboard's Hot 100.

Paying musical homage to Neil's original song, Billy Ray has given it a slight country edge, through hasn't tried to reinvent the song.

Billy Ray Cyrus - I Am...I Said

Neil, 79, and Billy Ray joined each other live on stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas at the weekend to raise money at Keep Memory Alive's 24th annual Power of Love Gala.

To mark the occasion, 58-year-old Billy Ray released a video of his rendition online.

Posting to his YouTube channel, Billy Ray wrote: "His music changed my life.

"Inspired me to trade in my catcher’s mitt for a guitar in pursuit of purpose. Hope you enjoy this video which captures this past year and celebrates this full-circle moment."
