Darren Day engaged for the sixth time a year after split from wife Steph Dooley

Darren Day has got engaged for the sixth time, the actor has revealed.

One year on from his split from wife Steph Dooley, Darren popped the question to girlfriend Sophie Ladds.

The 52-year-old took to Twitter to announce the news, sharing two black and white photographs of his hands intertwined with Sophie's - showing off her new ring.

He tweeted: "Spot the difference! My girl @SophieLadds & I just got engaged. She rocks my world."

One fan asked: "Congratulations buddy! You cuties! Was it a romantic proposal?? x."

Darren replied: "Dressed as Richard Gere from an Officer and a Gentleman on the spot where we met x."

Sophie also shared the photos on her social media accounts.

She gushed: "Spot the difference. @DarrenDOfficial you have made me the happiest girl in the world. Always...forever...and a Sophie Day."

Darren was previously engaged to actress Anna Friel, but later "gave the £30,000 engagement ring to Coronation Street's Tracy Shaw" after they split.

Darren then split from Tracy and began dating Isla Fisher.

He then got engaged to dancer Adele Vellacott, but it emerged he'd had a fling with Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw eight months later, who he then asked to marry him too.

They had a son together but they split in 2005 when he was three months old.

Darren went on to marry his latest wife Steph two years later, but split in 2019 after 12 years of marriage and two children together.

The actor appeared on Loose Women last week, where he told the panel he had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder during lockdown.
