Matt Damon has been enjoying his time in Ireland over the last few months, describing Dalkey as a "fairytale" during lockdown.

However, the Hollywood movie star will finally be bringing that fairytale to an end, as the American star is reportedly planning to return to the US with his family.

The 49-year-old made a "last visit" to Dalkey’s Country Bake shop before planning their trip home. The Dublin-based bakery recently shared a photo of the Oscar-winner on Facebook during his stop there.

They captioned the photo: "Our last visit from Matt and his family for a while. Safe travels! Thanks for bringing some excitement to Dalkey during this pandemic!"

When asked if he would return to Ireland in the near future, he replied: “Absolutely.”

Matt Damon has made Ireland his new home during isolation, along with wife Luciana Barroso and daughters Isabella, Gia and Stella.

He has been spotted posing for photos with locals as he went to the beach, while carrying a SuperValu bag. Amazing.

Why is Matt Damon in Ireland during lockdown?

The Ocean’s Eleven actor recently explained that he was shooting upcoming film The Last Duel as lockdown began, meaning he was unable to return to the US.

Appearing on a local radio show, he revealed how much he was enjoying his time in Dalkey.

He said: "Oh, it’s incredible. This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.

"Obviously what’s going on in the world is horrible, but for my family it timed out right. ‘It feels a little like a fairytale here, it’s gorgeous."
