Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Death in Paradise lost another important character last night (February 14).

Thursday's second half of a special two-parter saw long-time cast member Joséphine Jobert leave the crime drama as Florence Cassell, after the character was clinging to her life in the final seconds of last week's episode.

Florence had grown suspicious that her new fiancé Patrice (Leemore Marrett Jr) had got involved in a murder investigation involving the death of family friend Tiana, and seemed to get shot when she followed her partner to an abandoned warehouse.

In a twist, it was actually her fiancé Patrice who had been killed after getting caught up in a murder plot started by Tiana's long-lost father's business associate Frances Compton (Saskia Reeves).

All this tragedy was enough to make Florence want to leave Saint Marie for good. We can't blame her!

"Saint Marie’s a small island, and I don’t think there’s anywhere here that doesn’t have a memory of Patrice in it," she said.

Florence then chose to leave for Martinique, and then travel to "who knows where".

Jobert's exit follows Danny John-Jules leaving earlier in the series as officer Duane.

The actress later confirmed on Twitter that she had finished with her "time on the show", and was ready to look at other projects.

"Guys, I’m going to go to bed and watch a Netflix," she said. "I’ll answer your messages tomorrow but until then, I just want to say thank you to every one of you for all your support and your kindness and for being there, simply. I’m going to miss you every Thursday.

"I’ll explain all of this in a few days. Don’t’ worry. DIP had been an amazing experience that I’ll never forget. And you made it possible because of all the love you brought to the show, years after years. Have a good night ❤️❤️ see you tomorrow."

At least there's a chance she may return in the future...

Death in Paradise continues next Thursday night.
