"It's not a situation you want to get involved with, it was what it was and it ended OK."
Jamie Oliver is said to have chased a man down the street, after he attempted to steal from his London house.
Witnessed have said that the TV chef pinned the man down while waiting for police to arrive last Tuesday night.
The man is thought to have attempted to break into other houses on the street, where Jamie, his wife and five children were all home at the time.
Jamie confirmed that the incident had taken place, and looked shaken up when speaking about it.
"It's not a situation you want to get involved with, it was what it was and it ended OK," he told the BBC.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called to reports of an aggressive male attempting to gain entry to residential addresses in N6.
"The male was apprehended by members of the public and was subsequently detained by police."
The man was later released from a London police station.
