Taron Egerton channeled his inner Elton John by dressing as the iconic singer for Apple TV's latest Carpool Karaoke episode.

Taron, 29, who plays Elton in the upcoming Rocketman biopic, appeared on James Corden's The Late Late Show to talk about filming the latest episode of the online singing show.

Taron, and his is Rocketman co-star Richard Madden, were filmed driving around London singing Elton John's greatest hits including the smash hit 'Bennie And The Jets,' however Taron admits they may have had too much fun the night before filming:

“I haven’t checked with Richard if he’s okay if I say this,” Taron told James.

“We went out the night before and got blind drunk. Don’t worry! I sobered up before I drove. But we went out, had a good time, woke up, allowed an appropriate amount of time for me to sober up, and then we filmed Carpool Karaoke.”

For part of the episode Taron is seen wearing one of his OTT Rocketman feathered outfits, while Richard - who plays Elton's lover John Reid in the film - is dressed in understated all-black.

“Why do you always get to look cool, smooth, and winning and like a handsome leading man and I look like a big, multi-colored chicken?” Taron told the Bodyguard star in the preview clip of the upcoming episode.

Rocketman has already garnered 'phenomenal' reactions at early screenings and is set to be a huge film in 2019.

Due for release on May 31, the songs expected to feature in the film include 'Honky Cat', 'Tiny Dancer', 'Bennie and the Jets' and 'Crocodile Rock' among others.

This isn't the first time we've seen Taron actor channel Elton - his Carpool Karaoke stint comes hot on the heels of his duet with Elton John at this year's Annual AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.
