Dancing on Ice: Hamish Gaman announces engagement to girlfriend after 'dark' Caprice feud

Dancing On Ice professional skater Hamish Gaman has announced his engagement to partner Amelia Humfress, following a difficult few months due to the high-profile fallout with Caprice Bourret.

Hamish and artist Amelia have been together for four years, after first meeting on dating app Tinder.

The professional dancer praised his fiancée, especially for helping him through the "dark place" following his feud with celebrity partner Caprice.

"It’s finally time for some good news," he wrote on social media. "We’re engaged.

"And we’ve now set a date! After so much negativity, it feels so good to talk about something positive."

Hamish and Caprice’s feud was a big story during this year's ITV series, as it was suddenly by hosts Holly and Phil live on air that they had parted ways.

Re-partnered with Oscar Peter, Caprice lasted just one week before quitting the show altogether.

Hamish has continued to appear in group routines, but admitted he "wasn’t OK" with what had happened between him and Caprice behind the scenes on Dancing on Ice.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine alongside his fiancée, Hamish said: "I’ve known for a long time that I want to spend the rest of my life with Amelia but what I’ve been through made me keen to make that commitment to her sooner than we’d anticipated.

"For the past few months I’ve been in a dark place which I couldn’t have got through without her. Recent events have made me realise just how much I love her. Planning our wedding together has brought light to the darkness."

The couple are now planning to get married in December 2020.
