6 ways to totally avoid the Royal Wedding

Royal wedding yawn

While millions of people around the world can't wait to witness the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tomorrow, we know this isn't the case for everybody.

If you fall into the 'I'm really not bothered' category, then fear not, it will all be over before you know it.

But in this modern world of rolling news and social media, it's pretty impossible to avoid it. Here's some handy tips for what you can do on Saturday morning on May 19.

1. Enjoy the empty shops

Tomorrow morning will likely be one of those rare Saturdays where the supermarkets are surprisingly empty.

Embrace it by doing an epic food shop when everyone else is watching the telly or at the pub.

2. Go for a long walk

You've always wanted an excuse to go on a lovely stroll, then here's your chance!

Plan a route that lasts a couple of hours, maybe bring a picnic and a book with you, and you'll be really proud of yourself at the end of it, especially having missed all that Royal Wedding chat.

3. Have a social media cleanse

If there was one day of the year that you can attempt to totally ignore social media, this is it.

After all, we handled the world fine before it, so just ignore your phone and laptop for a day. At the very least, you can just add 'Royal Wedding' and other offending words to your mute list on Twitter.

4. Go to the cinema

Cinema trips in the day are unique enough on a normal day, but tomorrow it's likely to be pretty quiet (unless there's loads of other people doing what you're doing).

The cinema is a rare place where (most) people don't use their phones or go online, so there's perhaps no better place to avoid the outside world than here.

5. Sleep

An obvious one, but why not?

Stay up late on Friday and lie in until 2pm on Saturday. Sorted.

6. Binge watch that boxset

You've never got time to watch season 4 of that crime drama you've been looking forward to watching for months now.

Just think, four or five episodes later and you will have avoided all the Royal Wedding coverage in one go.
