Prince Harry has grown to become one of the most popular members of the Royal Family. From his military background to his relationship with Meghan Markle, here's all the big facts...
Harry's full name is Henry Charles Albert David. He is also known as Prince Henry of Wales. Royals don't tend to use a last name, but all descendants of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II (excluding females who marry), technically have the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.
Prince Harry was born on September 15, 1984. He celebrates his 34th birthday in 2018.
Prince Harry is 1.86m or 6ft 1in tall. He is slightly shorter than his brother Prince William, who is 1.89m or 6ft 2in tall.
Prince William and Prince Harry both have an estimated net worth of £28m, according to The Richest.
Prince Harry was the second child of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, making him the third in line to the throne at the time of his birth. There have been various rumours surrounding who could be Harry's father over the years, including James Hewitt. However, Hewitt has said that his alleged affair with Diana occurred after Harry was born.
Prince Harry attended Eton College from 1998-2003, and then the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2005.
Prince Harry was commissioned as a cornet (second lieutenant) into the Blues and Royals, and served temporarily with his brother Prince William, and completed his training as a troop leader. In 2007–2008, he served for over ten weeks in Helmand, Afghanistan, but was pulled out after an Australian magazine revealed his presence. He returned to Afghanistan for a 20-week deployment in 2012-13 with the Army Air Corps. He left the army in June 2015.
In January 2002, he confessed to heavy drinking and marijuana use when he was 16, prompting his father to send him to the drug rehab center, Phoenix House UK, for a day. In 2005, pictures showed him wearing a Nazi uniform to a costume party, and he apologized days later. In 2012, gossip website TMZ posted photos of im partying nude in a Las Vegas hotel.
Chelsy Davy, the daughter of Zimbabwean, South Africa-based businessman Charles Davy, was referred to as Harry's girlfriend in an interview for his 21st birthday. In 2012, Harry was introduced to Cressida Bonas, granddaughter of Edward Curzon, 6th Earl Howe, by his cousin Princess Eugenie. In April 2014, it was announced that the couple had split. He was also rumoured to be dating singer Ellie Goulding.
The couple met on a blind date, arranged by a mutual friend in London in July 2016. She had been doing press for 'Suits' in the UK. "I didn’t know much about him and so the only thing that I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up was — I had one question. I said, ‘Well, is he nice?’ Because if he wasn’t kind, then it didn’t seem like it would make sense," she said. They announced their engagement in late 2017, with a wedding on May 19, 2018.
In early 2015, rumours emerged that Harry was dating Harry Potter actress Emma Watson, but she quickly denounced the story, saying: "Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!".
Prince Harry enjoys many sports, playing competitive polo, skiing, and motocross. He is also a supporter of Arsenal Football Club, and is a keen Rugby Union fan and supported England's bid to host the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
