1. Who is Charles Venn?

   Charles Venn is a British actor of Nigerian descent, formerly known by the stage names Chucky Venice and Chucky Venn.

   Born in Kilburn, London, he grew up on the troubled Mozart estate. After having a love for athletics as a kid, he later attended Hammersmith and West London College, studying performing arts.

2. Charles Venn career: When was he in EastEnders and Casualty?

   Charles' big break came in 2003 as Curtis Alexander in the footballing drama Dream Team, and he later moved to another football drama in 2006, appearing as Tremaine Gidigbi in the final season of Footballers Wives.

   After small roles in movies including The Dark Knight and The Bourne Ultimatum, he joined the cast of EastEnders as Ray Dixon in late 2011.

   He left the show in May 2013, and two years later he made his debut on the medical drama Casualty as new nurse Jacob Masters. He has since become a series regular on the show.

   After being announced as a contestant, Charles said: “It truly is a pleasure to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, to be associated with a show that has such a huge following excites and scares me in equal measure!

   “Dancing on Strictly is going to be quite a challenge but life’s all about testing yourself so there’s lots to look forward to, let the games begin.”

   He later said: “Some of the costumes certainly do not leave much to the imagination, but they mostly look good I feel.

   “I’ll definitely have to do more sit ups though, just to fit in them!”
